Walking on Sunshine Animal Rescue’s

Mini-Horses, Meet Teddy

Poor Teddy, shown above, has been through quite an ordeal.  Several of our minis were adopted by an owner that simply couldn’t afford to keep them anymore.  Once Teddy came to us, we noticed that he had colic-like symptoms.  Teddy is only Five years old, yet his condition worsened.  We noticed oral ulcers, when our veterinarian said there was nothing he could do.  We rushed Teddy to Gainesville, where they put Teddy through multiple tests, and still, we don’t really know what happened.  He had Toxic Edema.  We wondered if a Blister Beatle (in his food) could’ve been the cause of his problems.  Stinging Nettles and Fire Weed was also considered.  Regardless, after spending over $4,200, Teddy was still not out of the woods.  A few days after he came back home, we asked our local vet  to follow-up, which cost an additional $700.  It currently costs us approximately $20/day to maintain Teddy’s health.  He is carefully monitored several times a day, and not quite 100% yet.
